Adding A New Department

In this tutorial I am going to show you how to add a new department to your system.

When creating your departments it is very important to have order for reporting purposes.

In this example I am going to be adding RED WINE as the department to go under the group WINE.

  • To begin with, click on the menu button located in the top left hand corner of your screen, followed by the back office option, followed by products and then followed by departments.
  • To begin with you need to type in the next available department number. If you do not know what your next available department number is you simply need to click on the window next to edit existing department and scroll down to the bottom to search for the next available number.
  • In this case it is number 047.
  • Once you have this information you then need to begin to fill out the rest of the information required on the screen.
  • Beginning with the department number, followed by the description and then followed by which group it belongs to.
  • The next step is to enter the max discount; this indicates the maximum discount amount that you wish to allow for this department.
  • The third last box on this screen is the export code and this is not required unless you are linking to an accounts package.
  • The final two boxes are about the colouring of the department, which I am also going to leave as they are.
  • Once all of this information is correct, you then simply go down and click on the save button.
  • Once saved the department is then ready to go within your system.
